SMOTHER.Net Review - June 2005

What kind of singer/songwriter writes songs about cannibalism, a communist feast, plastic bags, abusive relationships, and Laurel & Hardy in heaven?
You’d have to ask Glyn Bailey as each is a theme on his “Toys From Balsa”.
He ends the album with a collaboration with the German lo-fi duo known as Woog Riots on “Friends (John & Yoko in Bed)”, which yes is about John and Yoko intimately.
He once worked for a Labour MP but now as many Britons have, is disillusioned with Blair’s party due to the war in Iraq.
The songs are quirky and yet somehow catchy and you’ll find yourself humming along.
