If you like unusual themes, quirky pop-rock and humour as part of your musical diet ‘Toys From Balsa’ is the album for you.

Glyn Bailey, an English singer/song writer is not your stereotypical artist – neither is he a naive newbie. During the 80s and early 90s Bailey was in several bands, before turning to politics and taking a job working full time for a Labour Member of Parliament, then returning to music again in 2004.

Maybe it’s a diverse range of experiences over the years that brought out Bailey’s slanted views on life, but anybody who can begin their debut album with a song titled, ‘Sorry (She Went Down On Me But I Thought About You’ with a straight face, and with no resemblance whatsoever to Tenacious D or the like has got to be worth at least a little bit of attention. The funny thing about it is that it’s actually a really catchy song, and one you could find yourself humming along to soon after your first listen.

Every song on this album is different and each with a new message or thought to ponder. It’s not the kind of album I’d listen to every day but certainly offers a new perspective. It’s hard to judge the tongue in cheek factor, but Bailey isn’t without musical talent, and it makes a good listen, as well as a great conversation starter.

I don’t know what else to say except have a listen and see for yourself.
